Check-In Day!!!!!

Okay so today was the long awaited check-in for the Disney College Program. Today was only one of many possible days to check-in. The dates vary depending upon which program you have been accepted for (Advantage or Regular) and what your role is (Quick Service, Full Service, Merchandise, Hospitality, ect.) So it all takes place at the Vista Way apartments, and there are plenty of signs and people to direct everyone the entire time.

So today I arrived at around 7:30 am, but due to a new specified arrival time thing, I was told to return at 9 am. Me being me decided not to venture too far and sat around in my car in a parking lot for like and hour and half...woot!

Finally 9:00 am was approaching and I entered the Vista Way Apartments, found a parking space, and followed the gathering crowd to wait in line for a very long time. The process was pretty straightforward and rather smooth, but very time consuming. We received our Program Guides, which I overheard one girl say was basically the Bible for DCP's, received our housing assignments, our job assignments, got our housing ID, and were scheduled for Casting and Traditions. Casting took place almost immediately after we finished the run down; a coach bus took a large group to the Walt Disney Casting Center located right across from Downtown Disney...it's actually pretty cool.

So what did I get?

I knew ahead of time that I was full service food and beverage, which basically means you are a host/ hostess at any of the table service restaurants through Walt Disney World. But at check-in I received the more important information of where I will be working and where I will be living for the next eight months...

I will be working full service food and beverage at the Whispering Canyon Cafe at the Wilderness Lodge, and living in a one bedroom unit (3 people) at The Commons Apartment. I feel extremely blessed because I have a role that I am excited for, I'm located at a resort (which I wanted over working in a park), and The Commons was my first choice for housing!

The check-in, for me, lasted from about 9:00 am until 11:30 am when I boarded the bus for Casting. Casting then lasted from around 12:00 pm until 2 pm. Once I was back at Vista Way, I drove my car to my new apartment, placed some stuff on a bed, and went back to the hotel to gather the remainder of my belongings and of course seek Dad's help in moving everything (remember my pics from packing-now it all had to leave my car).

Thankfully, Dad was very patient with me as I attempted to unpack and organize my massive amount of crap. One girl had already moved in and left a welcome note with her number on it. She sounds really nice and I think we will get along well!

So, the majority of my day was spent waiting around, working on checking-in, and getting settled. I will have more pictures of my room/ apartment in a few days once I've settled out a bit.

Have a magical day!

Exploring the Resorts of Disney

Okay so again there's not much to talk about, but like I've said several times...having a couple of days to just walk around, relax, chill, and enjoy being in Disney makes all the difference for me.

After breakfast, we took my car and did a test run to the Vista Way apartments where DCP check-ins will be held. I, of course, wanted to make sure I knew how to get there so that I don't have a freak-out in the morning. We actually found that the area is really easy to get to and is right off of the highway. We talked to the woman at the security gate who gave us some general information for tomorrow's check-in and then went to the Walgreens, which is literally down the street. I also wanted to check out the location of the other three apartment complexes...Chatham Square, Patterson Court, and the Commons. All of these complexes are located close together and are only about five minutes away from Vista Way. The whole area is pretty easy to navigate and like I said it's right next to he highway which makes for easy access.

When we got back to the hotel, we decided to do a little resort hopping :D We got on the first bus we could, which happened to be Animal Kingdom, and once we arrived at the destination, we transferred to the bus that would take us to the Yacht and Beach Club Resort. Basically, all we did was tour the gift shops of the Yacht Club, Beach Club, and Boardwalk Resorts (all are located on the Epcot Lagoon) and then took a boat ride to Hollywood Studios. At Hollywood Studios, we took another bus to the Old Key West Resort, toured that gift shop, then took the boat to Downtown Disney. Immediately, we transferred to another boat to take us to Saratoga Springs so we could check out the gift shop and answer some questions about DVC (Disney Vacation Club - we're members). We took another boat afterwards to get back to Downtown Disney and walk around for awhile.

Dad and I had reservations at Rainforest Cafe for 7:30, but by about 5:30 we were getting hungry and checked to see if maybe we could get in earlier - lucky us we were seated right away! The meal was soooo good! We split an order of mozzarella sticks for an appetizer, had a cheeseburger with french fries, and a caesar salad - we were stuffed! It was great to have a nice sit-down meal with Dad instead of eating on the road or passing through someplace. Plus, we were seated next to one of the aquariums!

So, that was pretty much my day! A lot of transportation, exploring, wandering, and attempting to relax. Tomorrow is the big check-in day so I should have a lot more information by tomorrow night!

Have a magical day!

Day in Orlando :D

Hey everyone! Sorry there is much to report today except that I had a lot of fun with Daddy!

Today was our first day in Walt Disney World, since we just got in last night, and we spent the day walking through Downtown Disney. For those who don't know, Downtown Disney is basically a giant marketplace with plenty of shops and places to eat, often with good music, where guests can walk around and enjoy some time to relax. We walked around to check what was new and I of course made a list of all the things I want, which only got longer the more we walked around.

Here are some of the things currently on my Disney Wish List:
- mickey towel
- pins (a lot of them)
- a mug or two :)
- pillow pet
- stuffed animal
- Disney phone case
- Disney wallet
- Disney ipad mini case
- Minni ears
- items from the Beautiful Disney beauty collection
- items from Vera Bradley Disney collection
...and I'm sure the list will continue

At this point, I think the majority of my extra money will be towards getting Disney items because I am that obsessed.

Regardless, Dad and I had a lot of fun just relaxing, and it was nice to just chill out for a while.

We explored parts of the Port Orleans Resort, which consists of French Quarter and Riverside, and it was really nice.

Here's a couple of pictures of Port Orleans Riverside...

So over all a very nice day with daddy!

And to add some other pictures...
