Before Applying

I wrote previously that I had collected as much information as I could possibly find on every aspect of the program. I'm not kidding! The biggest thing I can suggest to anyone interested in applying is DO YOUR RESEARCH!!!!!!.

DECIDE IF YOU WANT TO DO THE PROGRAM. For anyone looking into the program, understand all the aspects and decide if this is something you really want to do. From what I've read, if you decline an offer it does not get extended to another person, so please do not apply if you are not serious about this opportunity.

RESEARCH EVERYTHING. There are more than enough places to get information, we do live in the twenty-first century. the best place to start is the official Disney College Program website at cp.disneycareers.com. Write down any questions that you still have and then hit up Google, it will be your new best friend. A lot of people do what I'm doing right now and have blogs, vlogs, or have posted on forums. Also, check out Facebook. Groups are created for every term where you can chat with other people who are applying, and even alumni who have done the program before. YouTube is also a great source for videos people have made during their program. You will want to answer as many of your questions as you can. Also prepare for the application, the web-based interview, and the phone interview (I'll get into more detail on that later).

TALK TO PEOPLE. The next thing I suggest is TALK TO YOUR SCHOOL! I went to the advisor's office first and they recommended me to the internship office. The woman I spoke with at my school was extremely helpful, not in information, but in guidance. The woman was kind enough to look over my application (I had filled out the application beforehand and saved it for easy access) and she suggested some changes to help my chances. I also happened to be fortunate enough to personally know a few people who have either done the program or were in the program. Therefore, I asked them for any advice both before and during my application. Utilize any sources you can, but don't abuse people's kindness.

Those are some of the biggest things to do before application day even arrives. There's still plenty of time. During late January/ early February, applications open for the Fall Program. During early September, applications open for the Spring Program. Good Luck and remember to always have a magical day!
