Application

Now, to talk about the application itself.

The applications are generally released twice a year and stay open for several weeks. Once closed, however, the applications are unavailable until the next season. Most of the information I'm going to give you is a general idea because there is no way to be prepared, but the best thing you can do is be honest and be yourself.

The first step towards acceptance into the DCP is actually applying. You will need to create an account when you apply. The application is fairly simple and straightforward. Most of it regards general information standard on all applications such as name, address, contact information, work experience, and so on. There are also questions for compliance to background checks and other Disney regulations. The final parts are in regard to your role choices. Each role will be listed with a description of duties expected to be performed, a short video of the role, and a box where you indicate your interest level as no interest, low interest, moderate interest, or high interest. Keep in mind this is only step 1 of the application process. During my first time applying, I never made it past this part, but I flew by it my second time around (psstt research!).

BE HONEST. A word to the wise, be honest with your selections. Do not put 'high interest' for a role you really don't want. Also, don't put 'high interest' for every category because that's unrealistic. I've never met anyone who was truly interested in every single role. It's good to have an interest in a majority of the roles, but know which ones you really don't want to do.

BE FLEXIBLE. Understand that this is an extremely competitive program, and you want to stand out. Try to minimize the low interest and no interest roles. This is where talking to the internship office at my school was extremely helpful. I was clued into the top four roles that should be indicated with high interest: Quick Service Food & Beverage (QSFB), Full Service Food & Beverage (FSFB), Merchandise, and Attractions. My top choices were Merchandise, Full Service Food & Beverage, Hospitality/Concierge, and Vacation Planner.

The Roles:
  1. Attractions Operations
  2. Custodial
  3. Hopper
  4. PhotoPass Photographer
  5. Main Entrance Operations
  6. Transportation
  7. Bell Service Dispatch/Greeter
  8. Concierge
  9. Hospitality
  10. Housekeeping
  11. Quick-Service Food & Beverage (QSFB)
  12. Full-Service Food & Beverage (FSFB)
  13. Merchandise
  14. Bibbidi Bobbidi Botique/ Pirates League
  15. Vacation Planner
  16. Lifeguard
  17. Recreation
  18. Character Attendant
  19. Character Performer
  20. Costuming
Again do your research, I found out about each role and it's responsibility by going on different blogs, touring the Disney website, and watching youtube videos.

I changed a lot of my choices from my first application to my second by increasing the interest. If it was previously listed as no interest or low interest, I changed it to low or moderate interest, respectively.

There really isn't much more to say about the application. Just understand that people will be processed at different rates. Some people will get through in minutes, others in a few days. BE PATIENT.

That's all until next time - Have a Magical Day!
