Dad and I left the Hampton Inn in Florence, South Carolina close to 8:30 this morning and then went across the street to fill up the tank. The calculation showed that my car was getting about 31 miles per gallon, still pretty good. I drove for the first leg which was about 160 miles until we crossed the Georgia state border just after 11 a.m. and took a rest at the visitor center. Dad continued the driving from there, and we went another 120 miles into St. Mary's and Kings Bay on the southern tip of Georgia where we again filled the tank around 2 p.m. This time my car was receiving about 30 miles to the gallon, but I'm not complaining. Dad showed me the area in which he used to live when on travel to Kings Bay and the entrance to the naval station. Let me tell you that there is literally nothing to do for like 50 miles of the city.
We took a break for lunch at Wendy's before continuing on to St. Augustine, Florida. There we explored the pirate museum and Fort Castillo De Marcos across the street. It was actually really cool considering all the artifacts are about three to four hundred years old! Here's a sample of some of the items displayed at the museum and the fort...
This was the flag of the Jolly Roger back in 1850!
LOL of course Dad would stand military style
After a couple hours of exploring, we decided to continue all the way to Orlando because it was only another couple of hours of driving. Pretty sad that now I consider an hour or so of driving to be nothing :D We were going to stay at the Pop Century Resort, but because we arrived a day early the only place with a room available was the All Star Movies Resort which is fine because now we can rest here for the next several days, and I now have two days to chill and get myself together for Monday check-in. Regardless, I MADE IT TO DISNEY!!!!
Here's some pictures I took along the way that I thought were pretty...
Getting closer!
There were a lot of police cars at the entrance idk why
I'm in Disney!!!!
Sorry I fell asleep trying to finish this post so tomorrow actually means today, we will probably visit Downtown Disney and I plan on organizing a little bit, but we shall see. Just from the small gift shop here at the resort my wish list expanded exponentially :D
Have a magical day! Until later!
